Google Analytics Overview page intro video
In this video I briefly describe each of the elements on your Google Analytics Overview page and what they mean. Here's some key terms:
Bounce Rate: percentage of single-page visits where the person left without interacting with the page or other pages.
Avg. Visit Duration: Visit duration is important because it reveals the amount of interest in your website content. Anything over 30 seconds is good.
Pages / Visit: Pages is also important at gauging interest in your website because if the user is looking at more than two pages then it could indicate they are very interested in you or your product. However, it could also indicate that it's not easy to find information on your website.
Operating System: OS is important because it generally shows what devices are viewing your website. More than 10% of internet traffic is now from mobile devices and it is growing fast so if your website isn't mobile compatible you could be losing clients.
Country / Territory: Country is important because if you find you are getting a lot of visits from a country that you're not targeting then this could explain why you have a high bounce rate and may need to adjust your search engine optimisation.
